AI comes to the Farm

AI comes to the farm

AI and Robotics have been making in roads into agriculture. The goal is to reduce the amount of pesticides and herbicides as well as reduce the workforce needed to do everything from pollinating, to fertilizing, to harvesting.

The question is only how much will the initial cost be, as well as how long will it take to pay back the investment. Will harvesting cost increase due to the changes in immigration policy, and thus make AI driven robotics more cost effective?

Government gets its own ChatGPT

While various companies have been touting their products for AI use, ChatGPT has implemented a custom GPT for use within government agencies.

The goal is to reduce wait times and improve processing, even allowing users to upload sensitive data, as it will not be stored back into the main application. This is similar to Enterprise GPT.

DeepSeek New Super AI Or Cheap Knockoff

Deepseek came out just in the last week, with stats better than almost all other AI models, for a fraction of the cost. This sent tech stocks tanking for a day before they started to rebound.

Of course, it didn’t take long for nicks in its armor to be found, from how it responds to certain questions not friendly to China, to the fact that they may have stolen training material from OpenAI. But it’s still new and worth checking out.

We need more Power

Not only AI, but all companies are needing more power to run their data centers. We’ve talked about nuke plants being turned back on, and micro-reactors being considered to run data centers.

Now energy companies are looking to team up to power data centers for the next few years. Natural gas allows for quick changes power output, and as AI and other uses put more demand on our power grid, we’ll need these types of plants available to them.
