Table of Contents
We always bring the top 3 to 5 tech stories every week, in a quick and easy to read format. If you’re not a subscriber please consider, we’d be happy to have you and we never spam you.
We’ve got four interesting stories going on in this week’s tech news, so let’s get started.
Where Job Recruiters Spend Their Time
Our first story is actually from the previous week, but it’s important enough to mention. Recruiters are saying they spend 25x the amount of time on your LinkedIn profile than your resume. (Some say they only spend 5 to 7 seconds on a resume, although tests seem to show about 20 seconds to a minute on average.)
Your resume is still important. Think of it as the way to get them to look at your LinkedIn profile, so make sure that link is on your resume and in your emails.

AI Can now Sound Like Anyone
Can you trust your ears? Well, probably not anymore. OpenAI just showed off their small model Voice Engine which can replicate anyone’s voice, including inflection, emotion, translation, and more - all with only a 15 second voice clip as a reference!
While this hasn’t been released to the public yet, it is something worth paying attention to, especially if you do anything with voice prompts - like phone banking.
“No sir, I promise I didn’t say transfer all funds to the circus…I know that’s my voice… but it’s not,” might just be something we hear in court one day.

Tech and Media Companies Aren’t Even Pretending to be Safe Anymore
Media and Tech companies have been hauled before the Senate more times than… well anything recently. And in the latest blast, they have had to admit to the fact that they are cutting the staff to their trust and safety teams… because what could go wrong there?!
X, Snap and Discord all disclosed cuts to their trust and safety teams, while Meta (Facebook, Instagram, What’s App and more) and TikTok did not provide historical information to the committee about their trust and safety staffing despite requests.
So despite them saying they are dedicated to being safe… it looks like they aren’t. What’s the worse that could happen in the largest election year in the world in … well forever?!

Apple Products a Target for Malicious Use
Say it ain’t so… but it is. Our final story is on ‘MFA Bombing’. This is a type of attack, and this latest round is targeting Apple users. This is an elaborate type of phishing attack which makes use of a bug in Apple’s password reset.
This is an attack meant to overwhelm a user, and allow them to make a minor change on accident. Tied with a call from “Apple Support” it can be a pretty nasty thing, so keep an eye out and be safe.
