We’ve got some interesting things going on in this week’s tech news, so let’s get started with the top stories.

Could your iPhone be going to jail?

iphone in jail

OK, so no, your iPhone can’t go to jail, but the US government is trying to say that Apple is illegally manipulating how Apple products interact with others, trying to create an unfair advantage.

This includes everything from the green bubble, to reducing the quality of video it shows from competitor phones, to how the Apple Watch only integrates with only Apple products. And let’s not forget the iTunes store and how they control what you can and cannot load on your devices!

While I’m all for the best product surviving, manipulating how others appear is a low blow! Technically called an Antitrust case, and it could lead to Apple having to play on the same field instead of stacking the deck. Stay tuned to see what happens.

Meet Devin, the Software AI Trying to Take My Job

AI is coming for everyone and everything. And now, it’s really coming for its own developers!

Devin is the latest AI which is supposed to be able to develop software with minimal inputs, and constantly improve what is being generated based upon what it has already done. Basically learning by doing, much like most developers.

The saving hope is that it is more of a helper, and will be over hyped liked we’ve seen other tools which are supposed to prematurely retire me. We’ll have to see on this one. Also, think about all the software projects out there. There will always be work out there for people willing to do it, it’s just the job changes sometimes.

It’s currently in closed beta, so you’ll need to be put on the waiting list if you want access to it.

Person holdng a neuralink

While the Cybertruck wasn’t the hit some people hoped Neuralink might be something else all together. Neuralink is a chip to brain interface which has many potential uses, including giving mobility back to those who have lost that ability.

Recently, the first recipient of the brain link chip was shown playing chess with his mind. Seeing how I’m not that great of a chess player, I’m sure he could easily beat me.
