AI is not so scary, unless you've invested in it
Welcome back my Tech Curious friend. I’m so glad you’re here. Below you can find information about the most recent tech news. So let’s get started.

Maybe AI isn’t so scary?
We’ve talked about some scary things that could occur with AI. And while some people are thinking that AI will, at a minimum, take your job, workers are thinking not so much.
Now, PwC has just released a survey of over 50,000 employees. Approximately half of them felt AI would increase their salary and job security. In comparison, about 10% felt it might cause their salary to decrease.
Interestingly, Institute for Public Policy Research just released some research saying that AI could wipe out 8 million jobs in the UK alone, with Gen Z and women being most heavily affected.
Apple Vision is Ready to Take on the World
Formally only available in the US, the Apple Vision Pro is now available worldwide. Well… sort of. It will be available in about 12 countries by mid-July.
Interestingly, it cost more outside the US. Country tariffs? Changes to comply with local regulations? Who knows?
Underwater Data Centers Sunk?
A few years ago, Microsoft had an idea to put data centers underwater to help cool them. It was an experiment to see how the equipment would handle the challenges of being submerged.
While the tests seemed promising, including a failure rate at only 1/8th of those on land, Microsoft has seemed to end the experiments, as there are no current active underwater servers.
What’s in a Name?
We’ve heard stories of AI being used to win contests… well, now a photographer won an AI image contest. The switch… it was an actual photograph.
Have we reached PEAK Tech?
Well, that’s an idea, given how hedge funds are slowly divesting themselves of tech stocks. Is this a bad thing? Not really, everything in the market comes and goes in waves. This allows the next wave to be ridden. Does that mean the valuation of stock heavy companies will take a hit, probably, but who knows by how much?
This is probably why Nvidia’s stock has taken a hit after being the most valuable company in the US stock exchange. How it affects other tech companies, especially those highly hyped AI companies, is yet to be seen.
